How to keep your pooch medically fit!

Medical care for your pooch is as important as medical health of us humans.

These are few pointers that pet parents should keep in mind to keep there furry babies healthy and fit:

1) Firstly and most importantly, whenever you notice even the slightest change in your pet’s behavior such as; food habits, walking style or if you notice any lethargic actions and movements lately, consult your vet ASAP.

2) Keeping vaccination up to date is of utmost importance so that our furry friend do not acqire any infection.

3) Do ask your vet about the diet for your pooch. Quantity and quality of food differs according to age and breed of dog.

4) Observe the food items your pooch is allergic to. Eg. My labra pukes every time we give him chicken or mutton bones. It doesn’t suit him!

5) Never give your pooch grapes, chocolate, tomatoes, sugar and salt. These products are not good for them and can cause severe health problems.

6) It is advisable to have a knowledge of your pet's birth parents as well as their medical history.

7) De-worming should be done on regular basis (vet will guide you on this).

8) Fever can be observed if the nose of your pooch is dry and body temperature can be observed from the stomach area.

(Note:- the normal body temperature of dogs is higher than that of humans).

9) Make sure the shots (vaccine injections) given to your pooch is noted down in the medical booklet for keeping track.

10) Visit your vet on regular basis.

11) For the female dogs, pre and post pregenancy periods may make her irritated or uncomfortable. It is advisable to give her some space and rest. Try not to keep her away from her pups for a brief period of time(atleast a month). Be patient and within few days, she will be fine.

12) Lastly, be there for your pooch if s/he is sick. They can’t speak but they surely are uncomfortable. Just love them and take care of them like your own baby. It is true that love can heal any condition (personal experience talking). They love you with all their heart and they need you to be with them. They will be fine.
